Our team of experienced seamstress are alway's available to provide an outstading alteration service.

They make sure every dress is finished to a high standard and is a perfect fit for all our brides.



Alterations can often be the most important finishing touches to your wedding dress.

At Severn Brides we have fully qualified in-house seamstresses which are always available for a free consultation.  

Our services range from minor adjustments, to complete redesigns.

This means you can trust us to make sure your dress looks amazing and fits you perfectly on your day.

Each adjustment is quoted according to the amount of work undertaken.

Our service extends to bridesmaids, mother of the bride and groom.

Even if you have not purchased your dress from us, we are more than happy to provide the same service.

We also provide a bespoke service for the entire bridal party, including the making of boleros, sashes, straps,

waistcoats, cravats, ties and hankies that are an exact match to your chosen colour scheme.


Every care is taken as we expertly steam all gowns and veils before collection for your special day. We will

provide a breathable dress carrier for your wedding gown and accessories will come in individual boxes so you

can store them all safely afterwards.  We also offer a complementary packing service if your travelling to your

Frequently Asked Questions

Do I need to book an appointment?

It is not always necessary to book, but we highly recommend it to ensure that one of our dedicated bridal consultants is on hand to help you. Your appointment will last between 1 to1 ½ hours.  If necessary, we can then book you in for a second consultation to try your favourite dresses on again.

Can I bring my family and friends along to the appointment?

You are more than welcome to bring whoever you wish along with you. Ideally, we recommend 2 or 3 guests.

What happens during the appointment?

Normally we will start by discussing what you are looking for and invite you to look through our collection choosing what you would like to try on.  It is best to try on a variety of shapes, style and fabrics to get an idea of what is right for you.  Then, our bridal consultants will be able to make further suggestions as to what else to try on. We can also look at adding accessories to complement your dress.

Can my bridesmaids try on some bridesmaid dresses at the same time?

Of course, but please mention this on booking your appointment with us to ensure there is  enough time set aside to accommodate all of you.

What sizes and prices are your sample dresses ?

Our samples range from size 10 to size 18, but for our curvy brides we have sample dresses up to a size 30. Our prices start from £300 up to £2,000. If you are on a limited budget it is always good for you to tell us as we will then be able to work with you.

When do I need to place my order?

We advise to place your order a minimum of 6 months in advance but 9 to 12 months ahead of your date is ideal, leaving you plenty of time to focus on other parts of your wedding. However, when you find the dress of your dreams then it is best to place the order straight away.   If your date is under a 6 month period then there is no need to panic, you can choose any of our sample dresses, which can then be altered to fit you perfectly.  

How do I choose a size to order?

We will take a set of measurements and refer to the designer’s recommended size chart.  

We will only order a size once we have discussed it with you and you are happy with it.

How do I place an order and pay for my dress?

Once you have chosen your wedding dress, bridesmaids dresses and/or accessories to place the order we would ask for a 50% deposit. The final 50% is due when your dress arrives and you try it on.  We also have payment plans available. Ask for more details.

Can I store my gown and accessories in the shop?

Once your dress arrives, we store it here free of charge until your ready to take it away for your big day

What happens to my dress when it is ready for collection?

Every care is taken as we expertly steam all dresses and veils before collection for your special day. We will provide a breathable dress carrier for your wedding dress and accessories will come in individual boxes so you can store them all safely afterwards.

Will my dress need alterations?

If your dress needs altering we have in-house, expert seamstresses to take care of you, to get it looking amazing and fitting perfectly. We are all qualified seamstresses and can undertake any work which is necessary. Even if you have not purchased your dress from us, we are more than happy to provide the same service. If you’d like to express your personal style by tweaking aspects of your dress we are more than happy to accommodate you.

Are alterations included in the cost?

No, we keep the alteration cost separate. On your first fitting we will give you a full detailed quote of any work which needs to be carried out.

When should I book in for alteration fittings?

We normally start fittings 8 weeks before your wedding date, or whenever you are ready. We don’t have a set number of appointments; It usually takes 2 or 3 or as many as required and also on dates which would suit you.
